
You can get ideas from the internet and magazines to start an idea book. Figure out what your style is, whether it is Country, Tuscan, Retro, Contemporary, Traditional, Modern, Transitional or maybe you are more on the Eclectic style. Find your color scheme, and off you go!
The one thing that one can do to change a room drastically, is by painting. Take your time at this, you want it to look professional and not like a quick job. You can either go with the traditional one color wall or go as far as adding a Faux texture. White ceilings are of the past, depending on your ceiling height, paint it to coordinate with your room. If you have high ceilings, paint it a shade darker or if you have a low ceiling, paint it about three shade lighter.

If you have items that you already own and think that they would go great with your new room, but they are the wrong color, paint them. Make a new creation out of something old. Get your kids, or yourself, and paint a large wall painting with colors from your new room.
